The psychologist position administers, evaluates and interprets psychological testing; writes, monitors and coordinates behavior management plans with the mental health team; and serves as a member of Bartz-Altadonna Community Health Center.
Counsel individuals and groups regarding problems such as stress, substance abuse, and family situations, in order to modify behavior and/or to improve personal, social, and vocational adjustment.
Develop and implement individual treatment plans, specifying type, frequency, intensity, and duration of therapy.
Discuss the treatment of problems with patients.
Evaluate the effectiveness of counseling or treatments, and the accuracy and completeness of diagnoses, and then modify plans and diagnoses as necessary.
Identify psychological, emotional, or behavioral issues, and diagnose disorders, using information obtained from interviews, tests, records, and reference materials.
Interact with patients to assist them in gaining insight, defining goals, and planning action to achieve effective personal, social, educational, and vocational development and adjustment.
Obtain and study medical, psychological, social, and family histories, by interviewing individuals, couples, or families, and by reviewing records.
Utilize a variety of treatment methods such as psychotherapy, hypnosis, behavior modification, stress reduction therapy, psychodrama, and play therapy.
Maintain current knowledge of relevant research.
Refer clients to other specialists, institutions, or support services as necessary.
Write reports on patients, and maintains required paperwork trails.
Develop, direct, and participate in training programs for staff, students and interns.
Required Education and Experience
Master’s degree in psychology from an accredited college or university.
State Issued Psychology LicenseTwo to three years of experience working in community mental health clinic setting. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license, maintain automobile insurance coverage and have an automobile.
Preferred Education and Experience
Two to three years of experience working in community mental health clinic setting.
